Creating extraordinary worlds for performance, venues and public spaces

We are JaneJaney — Jane Wheeler and Janey Gardiner — Designers who transform spaces for performance, venues and public areas.

We established our studio in 2010 as Set and Costume Designers and have grown a practice that spans traditional performance, immersive productions, events, installations and interior design.

The link that binds our work is creative collaboration. We love collaborating with others on innovative and ambitious projects, and our aim is always to create designs that have heart and soul; ones which genuinely connect with people and communities.

We listen, are open minded and playful in our approach — experience has taught us that letting go of expectations and having fun with designs, offers up creative, original and somehow more authentic work.

And this is our greatest hope — creative originality and authenticity — as we feel this is the route to spaces that people truly love.

As well as designing, Janey has 35 years experience lecturing and running industry and degree level courses in set, costume design and prop making. This has included Wimbledon School of Art, Slade, Central St. Martins, and Brighton Film School.

Jane is also a Scenic Artist working across theatre, TV and events, including Royal Ballet and Opera, National Theatre, Glyndebourne, Almeida, Headlong, V&A, Chanel, Amazon and Netflix.

Between us we have a whole breadth of art, design and making skills, and we know how to excite and enthuse people in the act of creating as well.

Past design collaborations include Royal Ballet and Opera, Rambert, Brighton Festival, Latitude Festival, Secret Cinema and Soho Theatre.
