Soho Theatre Walthamstow
Soho Theatre
JaneJaney were asked to sensitively and thoughtfully blend a unique personality — the old Granada Cinema in Walthamstow, with another unique character — it’s new guardians Soho Theatre.
Through careful design, they transformed the interiors of this derelict venue, one which had been a cine-variety, a live music venue, a bollywood cinema and a pub, into a comfortable 1000-seater comedy theatre, complete with 3 bars, a cafe and studio spaces.
They created a design concept, liaised with all parties and stake holders, including Historic England, kept everyone on track with the design vision, and delivered a venue that honoured the past, but works for today.
